Andy Murray began the 2013 season at the Brisbane International 2013 where he was the defending champion. He successfully defended the title defeating Grigor Dimitrov in the final. Murray next played at the Australian Open 2013 where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final. In the process, he defeated Roger Federer for the first time in a Grand Slam tournament in the semifinal in a five-set thriller.
Murray has confirmed that he would compete in the Queen's club tournament in May.
